battery in relatively new contract phone stopped charging, so taken into CPW (was bought via their website).. they send off to repair centre'..
checking status online, now shows 'serious fault - unable to repair', but also not under warranty?
Had tried a new battery, no joy, and charger works with other devices, so it's the phone thats gone wrong..
Am i stuck with a duff phone, but still have to pay out the (talkmobile) contract? The 'warranty' seems rather vague, and useless.
Options welcome- can i break contract? send direct to Nokia?

There is nothing stopping you sending directly to Nokia, but whether or not they repair depends on the cause of the problem.
If CPW won't carry out the repair as they think that the problem is due to you doing something wrong (water damage is one of the main reasons given for warranty refusal) and they have used a Nokia centre to look into the repair, you will probably get the same response from them.
You really need to contact CPW again and find out the reason for them refusing a warranty repair.0 -

From what I understood of your OP, it sounds like the charging connector in the phone may be faulty (if a new battery still has same issue and cable works at charging other phones/items). The usual cause for this (as far as I'm led to believe anyway) is user damage - pulling the phone off charge, bending it while on charge etc).
Is this possible or are you sure it isnt user related? If you're sure its not user related, may be worth asking them what they'll need to prove the faults inherent (usually an independent report stating the fault is inherent but some companies will offer repairs without this).
Should perhaps add I might be completely wrong as changing connector being damaged should be possible to repair! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Used to work for CPW repairs, this basically means they believe you've done the damage to the phone and as such they won't honour the warranty.0

As far as the Talk Talk contract is concerned you can use that by simply transferring the SIM card to a different phone. I appreciate that doesn't help the phone warranty issue but at least it solves one problem.0
