Address -flat above business with no official address, should I change?

We have been offered a flat within a holiday park as part of my partners job package but it is part of an old building which is now the parks club house, seems to have no official address, no individual front door or letterbox all post goes to reception, no organisation recognises it and we pay no bills only rent. Many people have stayed in this flat short term and long term. I previously lived with parents and we will probably be here about a year when we want to apply for a mortgage.

Should I just leave everything like banks, mobile phone, credit cards all with my parents address or should I change it to this address somehow? I don't want to do anything that affects us applying for a mortgage next year?

Thanks

It's about practicalities as much as credit file; reminding me of my student days.

Check out the Postcode Address File. When businesses find your address by postcode and house number, they look up a Royal Mail document called the PAF. If you aren't in it, it confuses life all over. Businesses will say: 'so your address is 'apartment block, st'?' Nearly. That plus apartment number. I found it wasn't worth the hassle.

At uni I had a door bell at the street, but no accessible postbox. A courier with a parcel had no-where to leave a parcel, so I had to get parcels delivered Royal Mail only since the postman had another arrangement with the landlord.

Edit: Welcome. If you find a post helpful normal protocol is to click 'thanks' beneath it. Not in this post though since I addressed an adjacent subject unconnected to money.

I'd leave all my addresses at my parents' house, if that weren't too far away, then pop and pick up mail once a week or so.

There are many addresses at the cheaper/free end of the renting marketplace that have awkward or insecure addresses, letterboxes etc, so it's something I've done many times in the past.

It sucks to not have an address, or a letterbox where your mail comes to - and have to suffer these annoyances..... so, if possible, I'd stick with the parents' address for safe mail.
  • Thanks for your help, I think I will keep everything as my parents address, although are there any legal implications when doing this?

Only voting - you need to ensure the council is aware that your flat is a habitable property, and that you can register to vote.
