Yodel delivery/collection problems

Basically, I missed the 3 attempted deliveries of my SportsDirect order being delivered by Yodel during the week, so rearranged online to collect from the depot today (Saturday).
The website and confirmation email I received stated "You can come and collect your parcel(s) between: Saturday, 11th January 2014 and Monday, 20th January 2014."
After travelling the 25 miles there, it turns out that the parcel isn't at the depot after all and they need to wait for the courier to return it to the depot. I now need to go back again next weekend and waste another morning travelling.
I've heard you can make a claim against a courier if they don't deliver when they say they will and you have taken a day off work, but is there anything I can do about my wasted time and travel expenses when they've said I can collect and then it isn't there?
I feel like it's probably not even worth complaining as Yodel have such a bad reputation, I can't see them doing anything to help.
Appreciate any advice.
Thanks.

Well you can't claim anything from Yodel because you have no contract with them. Your contract is with Sports Direct who subcontracted the delivery to Yodel.
So, any claim you have is against Sports Direct. Whether or not you'd be successful, I have no idea.0
