ppi complaint been with ombudsman 2 years :(

I first sent my ppi complaint for lloyds tsb to the ombudsman in November 2011!

It seems no update or investigation has been done, every time i contact them they say they will be in touch when they get an update, but surely over 2 years on, they should have some info for me?

In April last year, I emailed a complaint and their response was:
We are waiting for the business to send in their business file and as soon as this is done your case will be allocated to an adjudicator to make an assessment. As quite a bit of time has passed I have forwarded your case to one of our specialised teams to look into as the business has not sent in their file.
Apologies for the delay and please do call us if you have and more queries.

In september when i complained again they said they will be in touch when any update but again, still nothing.

Does anyone have any advice on what i can do now? as they dont seem to be looking into my claim at all.

Thanks

Michelle x

  • Since the usual timescale for FOS referrals is upwards of eighteen months, you were a little premature with a "complaint" about your waiting time in April last year!

All you can do is be patient, but I would ring for updates on a semi-regular basis.
Do remember that, even when you get to the front of the queue, there is no guarantee that the Ombudsman will uphold your referral.

On what basis did you refer?

Why did the Bank reject your original PPI complaint?
  • Ive just called them again and the lady was quite helpful this time with her information. She said that Lloyds were requested to send my file over to them in february 2013 but still not done so. They now have a huge case of files of accounts were the bank have not acknowledged the request to send info over and that is being investigated into now by a team at the Ombudsman. Luckily I still have a copy of my original agreement so i can fax that over to them to add to their system.

I wasnt even told about signing for ppi, even on the contract it shows pre printed ticks opting for this and were i was meant to put my name, you can see the bank lady has wrote my name herself in this section and this can be seen clearly as she has then wrote her name on it and you can see its the same person who has wrote both.

Depends if you want to either win your case or have your case dealt with (and lose).
If the former, best to keep stum and note your grievances for a service complaint http://www.fos.org.uk/publications/factsheets/complaints-about-our-service.pdf
I'd work on the bank if I was in your position try emailing grps3210 ***a@t*** lloydsbanking.com

Unfortunately, it was often the case that the advisor ticked the boxes on behalf of the customer. If you then applied your signature to this document, I can't really see FOS upholding your complaint on that basis.
You had a weak complaint, I'm afraid, so expect nothing and you won't be disappointed.

Didn't you first complain about this in 2008?
