  • Morning! It's the weekend!!! :j:j:j

DS up at 7 am... have to drag him out of bed for school during week but he always seems to get up early at the weekend... oh well.

    My list for today:

    - yoga for 35 mins done
    - hm bread in bm done
    - go swimming with DS. Only £1 at the weekend and I have a membership as I go during the week so cheap outing :Tended up treating him to lunch at pool but outing still under £5 in total so still pleased
    - do shop at a!di per meal planner and stick within budget £2.01 over budget :o
    - meals per meal planner yep
    - no alcohol as aiming for dry January none!! :)
    - 2 loads of washing on economy done
    - hang as much up as I can... might have to use tumble dryer :oended up hanging the loads outside which was a bonus. Almost dry when brought in so all hung up and now dry
    - houseworkwhole house tidied
    - make banana loaf to use up old bananas will do this today

That's it for me... I'll update later - have a great Saturday everyone :) x

Quite pleased with what I achieved yesterday. Slightly over on shop but in the past could easily spend £10 or £20 more and think nothing of it so £2.01 not too bad!

Get paid on Thursday and actually on track to be within budget. So pleased! I get paid 4 weekly so some pays there should still be a balance left to cover future periods and there is still some money left in the bank!!! This has NEVER happened before... I always spend to the last penny then onto the credit cards. Plus I've made some small overpayments to the CC as well :T:T:T

    List for today:

    - banana loaf per list yesterday
    - start on meal planner for next pay period
    - checked on line banking and update budget spreadsheet done
    - one load on economy and hang up
    - hm soup for lunches during week
    - meals per planner

That's it for me today... planning on having a relatively chilled day :) x

    Hey DFW-Jedis,

Feeling a bit odd today. Life is a bit complicated right now. Hey ho. Here goes with the list:

    List 3:

    *Check online banking.

    *Check remaining mobile allowances.

    *Check remaining broadband allowance.

*Quarterly deep-clean the stairs and adjoining hallways ourselves.

*Listen to some free music on YouTube and Spotify.

*Watch a couple of Nectar AdPoints videos.

*Read "The One You Love", a free Kindle book. Recommended, it's a thriller. (Link)

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. (It's not over yet!!!)

Trying to find the line between being a determined DFW and living life is tricky at the moment!

I'm pleased with how I've done this weekend though...

    Good things:

    - Returned ebay trousers that had holes in the bottom! (£2.60) but I'm hoping to get that refunded.
    - Sold the old rabbit hutch for £10
    - Had coffee at St@rbucks thanks to a gift voucher from Christmas
    - Deposited a cheque from my 2nd job that will go towards next months bills!
    - Managed not to buy anything whilst I was in town. (Not even a drink, when my friend got one!)

    Not so good things:

    - Had a really bad evening yesterday, and ended up needing emergency company. My friend suggested KFC, so I paid. £11.99. It was delicious. I don't care. :| (That's not the right attitude, right?)
    - Spent £11.99 on Nakd bars too. I am addicted to them, and they're so good for me. I'm trying to find cheaper ways to get stuff like my 5 a day! (I could probably make my own bars.)
    - Spent £50 on tickets to go to The View at the Shard. A friend of mine is coming over from Australia next Saturday. I'm picking her up from London. I got the tickets really cheap, and this is the only 'paid' attraction we're going to! So I'll just need to think about food next Saturday.

Day 5 from the Plague House. Not much change in poorliness levels so have achieved very little. Wrote 2 cards from stores, have sold 2 eBay items, chose 2 photos for framing for a gift later this month & printed them. Free entertainment watching 'Sherlock' & reading my library book. Mr f got me some Max strength flu & cold capsules from Aldi. Tried 2 about 40 mins ago, & despite being so huge it's like trying to gag 2 Zeppelins down, I can feel them starting to kick in. Goodo! Shan't be buying branded ones again, mr f reckons these were under a quid. Soooooooo hoping I might start to pick up tomorrow. Have a peaceful evening, everyone, & thanks for the good wishes yesterday.
    Poorly f xx
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • Good evening everyone, I have been having a rather chilled out day, as still struggling from a lack of sleep.
    • Coal fire is on to save money on the heating
    • Washing machine is on, although I will need to contact repair company, as it is making a funny noise.
    • I have had a nsd, as not been out of the house
    List for tonight
    1. Do some more washing
    2. Sort out diary for next week
    3. Do college homework for tomorrow
    4. Look for some more freelance work
    5. Sort clothes and bags for tomorrow
    6. Get an early night,as I have a busy week next week
    7. Catch up with emails

I think that is everything that I need to get done today, Hope everyone is having a good Sunday x

The thought of going back to work tomorrow makes me grumpy, but on the bright side I have a secure job that pays the rent and my colleagues are lovely :) I am trying to see the positive side of things this year, it takes some getting used to!

This weekend I had to stay in as entertainment budget had already been spent (exceeded even) but I did go for a long walk to stretch my legs. In the cold rain, admittedly, but it still felt good!

I bought food in bulk and cooked 5 lunches (for work). I am still a newbie to cooking, so I call them experiments rather than proper lunchboxes.

Listed 2 items for sale and checked about a 100 times if I had any views/offers. None so far, fingers crossed!

Updated budget software with the transactions in my little notepad

Bought a slow cooker on offer to help with the batch cooking

Sew the pockets of my coat shut myself instead of taking it to the tailor (highly symbolic I know but they were sticking out!)

Sent health expenses to insurer, to see what I can get back off the 120 I spent for my bad back

    Bring on Monday!
