JSA current rate?

Hi,
Searched high and low, several different amounts are given on various websites. What is the current rate for JSA for an 18yo college leaver living with parents?
Will getting a Saturday job affect the amount paid and by how much.....i.e would the whole wage be deducted or just part of it?
;) debt free...yippee

    £46.85 a week.

Anything that you earn over £5 will be deducted from your entitlement.

    So if you earn e.g. £30 a week, you will be entitled to £46.85 - (30 - 5) = £21.85.
    Gone ... or have I?

Why is going on the Dole and working Saturdays, preferential to working full time and getting a good wage!?

If you have left college and still live at home with Mum and Dad.. why do you need benefits?

I apologise if there is a genuine reason... but why do people think it's an automatic process when they leave school/college - or is it nowadays?!

I get the feeling that you think it is for myself I am enquiring about. Not at all, I am asking on behalf of my daughter and I thought it was a reasonable question to ask. She has just left college with 3 National Diploma distinctions and wants to find a job rather than go to University and amass debts which she will not be able to pay back.

It is not preferable at all for her to be on the dole with a Saturday job. My daughter has made it abundantly clear that she does not want to go on the dole. So far she has applied for more than 30 jobs in the space of two weeks, only two have bothered to even reply. One asked her to go for an interview and when she turned up they said something had come up and they were too busy to interview her.....come back monday!!

I told her that she needed to go to the Job Centre so that she could have her NI contribution paid. She needs to sign on to do that irrespective of whether she gets any money or not.

Not having been in that situation myself and with the constant changes in legislation I thought this might be the right board to ask on. Its apparent you feel that my daughter is somehow trying to scrounge off the state rather than find a job.

I agree with your sentiments but please be aware that I did not ask for your opinion, merely a response to my question.
