Free belts on jeans and trousers

Has anybody noticed how 'free' belts included with jeans and trousers always seem to be too large for the trousers they are included with? I've bought a few pairs of 38 inch jeans. The smallest notch on the belts are 40 inches around, making them all but useless.

Make another notch or swap the belt with one from a smaller waist........simple!
