Channel islands residents

Hello Moneysavers!

I am a Channel islands resident (jersey) and i have recently become a very keen moneysaver but unfortunately I have been rejected from a few banks, when applying for high interest savings accounts and high interest current accounts, siting the fact that channel islanders are excluded from these products.
I understand that this is because of the whole "off shore " thing but even then i dont exactly understand the issue?
And other residents ive asked mumble some words but dont really know either.
Im wondering if anyone out there can make the issue clearer for me and can offer some advice on some other banking products similar to the ones i have been rejected from.
I cant find any related articles by Martin.
Cheers.
