nPower direct debit discount query
Hello.
I have been with nPower for 2years starting January 2012. When I signed up I was told I would receive £100 after 12months if I paid both my G&E by DD each month. I was told by nPower that they only produce bills in July and Decemeber (I think) and that my £100 would show on the first bill after the 12months has passed. Because of nPowers 'system change' and problems they have had last year I finally received the £100 credit on my December 2013 bill.
I have now found a cheaper supplier and I am in the process of leaving nPower. After my Dec bill I owed them approx. £180 and I'm wondering if I should receive another £100 DD dual fuel discount for 2013 as I paid my bills via DD for the whole year. I understand this payment might have dropped to £90.
Is this the way nPower works or do you only get that for the for 12 months?
Many thanks in advance

Yes, you will (now) get a full pro rata rebate calculated daily up to the date the switches go through. Indeed, if the gas transfers later (as is usual) you will also receive a single fuel sum.
(And you are also correct it is now down to about £90 plus VAT)0 -

Thanks for your reply.
So when they total up my usage between my Dec 2013 bill and when I switch they should credit me the £90 for my continued dd payments in 2013? I hope they do this automatically and I don't have to chase them :mad:0 -
Except make sure you actually get the dual fuel and DD discount.
npower wrote to me mid-Dec 2013 to say this discount - £100 a year, was stopping as of 15 Dec 2013.
Because I have no trust, at all, in what npower tell me, in what they write to me or worse, the accuracy of their bills - I have asked npower FOUR times - and counting - for their confirmation that I have had this discount up until the time it was pulled.
So far this year, every figure, every invoice they have produced has NOT shown the discount.
If anyone one is expecting to get this discount for last year [up until the time npower pulled it] please make sure you check your bill. If npower haven't applied the discount, complain in writing.
Don't bother speaking on the phone, where terribly nice people are trained to say sorry but never to resolve the problems.
npower have form in making customers' lives hell, and in snatching money they aren't entitled to.0 -
NPower wrote to its customers Dec stating these discs would now be conveyed on a reduced standing charge. Any gap between last disc anniversary and this change (15.12.13 for us) would be accounted for with a one off payment before end of 2013.
The standard charge has been altered correctly. The one off payment has NOT been made. Ensure you know your disc anniversary date and pursue this not-so-automatic payment. They owe us £20.
When will NPower get their acts together? How can companies improve if they don't have phone based complaints that work?0 -
They owe me 11 months of discount from last year which I am still to receive. Their back team have looked at it and still have failed to put it on my account. I am currently going through the complaints process. Good luck.0

I have eventually received my first bill for electricity supplied by Npower since Dec 2012 (Yes 2012). I have received a £10 dual fuel discount but was expecting £100.
Along with other issues I will be writing to NPower to complain.0 -
You were wrong to expect a dual fuel discount of £100. Where did you get the idea it would be any more than £10?exiled_taff wrote: »I have eventually received my first bill for electricity supplied by Npower since Dec 2012 (Yes 2012). I have received a £10 dual fuel discount but was expecting £100.

I think they might have added the £40 and £50 direct debit discounts for gas and electricity not realising that this is knocked off the standing charge instead. At least that is what I think but npower customer service confused me by saying that as well as the standing charge reduction I will still be getting the 100 quid discount on my anniversary bill. I'm keeping my fingers crossed......You were wrong to expect a dual fuel discount of £100. Where did you get the idea it would be any more than £10?0 -
Hi have you got any further with this? I have been with Npower paying direct debit since beginning of March with duel fuel and was expecting to the discount credited to account. I also got letter in Dec saying that it is in with standing charge but surely they will owe it up to dec. Has anyone had their discount?0
-
I have just had a bill through (after submiting meter readings) covering Dec 2013 to March 2014 which includes a £10 duel fuel discount, a £40 electricity direct debit discount and a £48.63 gas direct debit discount, which totals almost a £100 discount. My anniversary date as shown on "My account" was 11th Febuary. So what exactly did they discontinue in Dec 2013? I don't remember getting a letter about it and have received roughly the £100 discount I was expecting in Feburary.0
