So they're not an average couple then as their gross wages are £31k each thus they are earning 20% more than the average full time wage each. You know that though as this is just another silly wind up thread.0

The only debt we have is our mortgage, we have three years left, but as we are over paying we actually have two.
We don't really have any savings as we aren't high earners and due to my partners disability our outgoings for her treatment are quite high so we are unable to save a significant amount, so we just have a small emergency pot. However when our mortgage is paid off we will be able to save £450 a month.0 -

In the South £31k is a very poor wage indeed, the young lads in my Company - aged 23 - are on that for heavens sake.
No wind up, we cannot recruit anyone at those rates either ..... most applicants want a minimum £45,000 before even pulling their socks on.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
Even so 65% of people in the South East earn less than £31k and less than 20% earn £45k or more.0

I have savings now - but once I spend them I won't have and I expect to spend the LOT in the first half of this year. On the other hand, I expect to never have debt either.0

That made me genuinely lol ....... excellent!
I do accept that I work amongst highly professional people, live in an affluent leafy village and mix with those who have made successes of themselves ....... so that affects my view of the world.
