I found it an interesting read... but i want to hear peoples thoughts.
I agree with the sentiment.. fundamentals are not fixed but am i too pessimistic about the future?

As a general rule I would say that for successful investing one should:
1) Absorb all the information one can
2) Distrust all commentary particularly from commentators:
- with an agenda
- who provide assertions with lots of statistics but little link between them.
- with dire undated predictions
3) Make up ones own mind, trying to put aside any strong beliefs one may hold
So, he has an anti-EU agenda and he quotes lots of numbers but little explanation of what they mean or whether they matter and when. One can read similar things about many other places where one could invest.
I personally am more than happy with the 22% European ex UK allocation I have in my growth ISAs which has provided a 33% return over the past 2 years.0 -
I'm reminded of the musicians in the first class dining room on the Titanic..'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0

Would you mind eloberatting or explaining please JohnRo - are you saying the EU is a sinking ship but we are oblivious in first class because we are still eating the caviar and the champagne? My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

Basically a bunch of banking crooks are empowered to run a pyramid money scheme that doesn't work, and never has throughout all of history, yet has been allowed to engulf everything.
The meddling in the normal function of markets everywhere is only to keep bankrupt governments and the financial organisations that feed them afloat. Have a thought for the people in positions of power though, what are they to do when faced with the harsh reality of keeping themselves in the manner they're luxuriously accustomed to at everyone else's expense?
There's a sugar coated political and economic group in society riding on their coat tails for whom they can do no wrong and blame the effect as the cause but an increasingly large mass is being left behind and it really doesn't bode well imho.
In other news.. the markets are up today.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0 -
wow lol. Thats even gloomier than me!My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

That's the problem with discussing it, but it is the way the world is run, so why does it have to be seen as gloomy, identifying a reality that's unpleasant?
Surely what's gloomy is the thought that people would rather be oblivious or ignorant and choose not to recognise or acknowledge it.'We don't need to be smarter than the rest; we need to be more disciplined than the rest.' - WB0
