I noticed a flyer in Tesco today offering 500 clubcard points for obtaining a phone quote for Tesco Car Insurance before 17th July 2007. I can't find a this offer on Tesco's website, so I've typed the details below:

500 FREE Clubcard Points for every phone quote.

All you have to do is get a quote for car insurance over the phone before 17th July 2007 and you could get a better deal PLUS a guaranteed 500 Clubcard Points.

Offer available to new customers only. Points will appear on or before your November Clubcard Statement. The Clubcard must be in your own name. Quotes must be completed over the phone.

Just to let you know that there's also an offer to get 200 free Clubcard points when you phone to get a quote for health insurance (posted this on the Tesco thread, the Shop but Don't Drop board initially):

Oh no! I've just sat through 15mins of sheer agony to find that the 200points are awarded if you take out the policy over the phone. You also get a £50 voucher. You can actually cancel with no penalty after 14days though.

But I thought that would be a step too far :A

So you were told that you only got the points if you actually took out the policy? Looks like the flyers are a bit misleading then! :rolleyes:

Huh! I need to renew my car insurance and was willing to get a quote - but I have just spent 12 minutes listening to recorded Tesco adverts and muzac on a loop - on an 0845 number - before thumping the phone down.

Presumably the 500 points goes towards paying your phone bill, for all the time it takes to get through to them!

Or is it only 500 points if you take out the insurance?? Someone please clarify.

I haven't called yet, so don't know from experience, but people on PTS and on the Tesco thread on here who called were not required to take out the policy. There is no mention at all on the leaflet that you must take out the policy in order to get the points.

The 500 points is for obtaining a quote only, and - 01302 386304 is listed on SAYNOTO0870.COM which may work, though I've not tried it yet.

There's a bit of confusion above - there appears to be a separate offer for 200 points on health insurance which of course is nothing to do with car insurance!

Well I've had quote for the healthcare emailed through to me now. Deleted it immediately, as I'm not really interested. I was just looking for some quick easy points.

The lady I spoke to was from AXA. I was half expecting to be asked for my Clubcard number. The only mention of points was at the end of the call where she advised me that for taking out the policy I would get a £50 voucher and 200 points. If I bought the policy in one annual lump sum on my Tesco Credit card it would qualify for 12months interest free. Quite disappointed really.


I might give the Car insurance quote a go. Only problem is I don't have a car of my own. Only a company car. Any suggestions?

I also have a company car and don't really need a car insurance quote but 500 points is 500 points

I would guess that like me you are considering buying a second car. Then an insurance quote would be needed.
All I need to decide now is which car I'm not going to buy.

the car insurance quote says the points are for 'new customers only' to me that sugests you have to take the policy out...has anyone called and got these points without buying the insurance?
