The Utility warehouse? How cheap are they?

My Mother has had a guy call round at hers and has convinced her that The Utility warehouse is the cheapest there is for gas & electricity.
How true is this? as they don't seem to come up on comparison websites. I had never heard of them. I am looking to change suppliers but am a bit dubious and a bit clueless if I am honest about the cheapest suppliers.
Any info on Utlity Warehouse appreciated. Thanks

I am a Distributor with Utility Warehouse and would never claim to be the cheapest. Depending on area they can be competitive. Their website should give unit prices for comparison. There is a long running thread where some members here have not been happy with the service or prices. But then there are other companies that members here are not happy with.

If you do look, do not forget the £1.76 per month membership subscription will need to be added on to standing charges and unit costs.

"'While EDF Energy and, previously, npower have come in for much justified criticism for not cutting their electricity prices for their most loyal electricity customers, Telecom Plus has cynically taken advantage of the confusion over prices to actually increase its electricity prices for certain customers,' says Joe Malinowski "
  • "Don't touch them iwth a barge pole" is my experience.

I moved from them for gas and electricity a while back, making a £250 a year saving by going to Scottish Power.

At first they were pretty competitive, but no longer.

Not bad for phones, but use one of the electricity comparison sites to find the cheapest provider. It certainly won't be UW.

Note that when they quote their prices per unit, they do not include VAT. So add it on before comparing with other providers.
