Moneysaving while pregnant

Hi I found out Iwas pregnant last week. I will be starting a new job next week with reduced hours as I wanted to start my own business so things will be tough while that gets rolling. Does anybody know of any monesaving tips websites for mothers to be?

this one is by far the best - all the others encourage you to spend money ;)

Congrats and come and chat on the pregnancy thread if you have any questions or worries.

If you do a search on this forum for "newborn" then you'll see lots of threads about what you need for a newborn baby that have tips on how to save money. Freecycle, car boots and ebay are all great. Breastfeed if you can and use cloth nappies if possible and you'll save loads but if you don't want to do either or those (or can't) then there are ways to save money too.

On the Freebies board do a search for baby freebies and you'll see all the places to sign up - Bounty, Emma's Diary etc Boots is the best one as you get a full size No7 product if you sign up before you're 16 weeks (or just lie about your due date ;) )

As for pregnancy money saving - you can get folic acid on prescription or just buy the own brand ones and that's much cheaper than buying prenatal vitamins but if you want to then there are cheaper options than Pregnacare and if you want Pregnacare then buy at Boots when it's on 3 for 2. You may not need maternity clothes for the first 6 months but you will need new bras - M&S ones can be got ebay cheaply or look at any nonwired ones they don't have to sat maternity on them. Clothes can be bought on ebay or from places like H&M and New Look so you don't have to spend a fortune (although you will need practically a new wardrobe eventually). Make midwife appointments at your GPs if you can so you save on hospital parking. And if you have bad morning sickness you'll save a fortune on the food shopping cos you won't be able to eat anything  :rotfl:

Good luck with it all :T
