hi
over the last couple of days google chrome has been opening with bing search instead of my usual google search. i went into chrome settings and altered the page opening back to google.co.uk. that bit is now ok but when i open a new tab it is still defaulting to bing search even though on the chrome settings page it shows google as my default search engine.
could someone please point me in the direction of how to set things to as they were ie chrome opens with google and all subsequent tabs open with google.
i am running windows 7 home premium on an acer aspire 5536 laptop.
many thanks.

If you've installed any Microsoft updates recenly, it might have also installed the Bing search engine.
You can remove it in the windows 7 version of Add/Remove programs.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

thanks for reply.
cannot see bing listed in the uninstall programs list. the only thing relating to this is a program called 'search protect by conduit' recently showing, and perhaps this has caused it as an add on to something else perhaps? anyway rather than uninstalling it i have set it to google and at the moment new tabs are opening google instead of bing so perhaps this was the issue?0 -
A quick google says that's a piece of malware so should be removed.
