ram upgrade question

Probably a silly question but I was wondering when I replace the ram in my windows 7 x64 PC do I need to reinstall windows 7 again or will it be fine to use without reinstalling?

Thanks

ohbilly---If we knew which PC you have we could possibly guide you.
Crucial can tell you how much of which memory type to order

Crucial will tell you the type and speed, but I wouldn't buy from them (they can be a bit pricey!).
The only upside to buying from them is their no-quibble returns policy if the memory they supply isn't compatible.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

They give good advice, they have a good returns policy. Those two factors outweigh the price increase. If you are going to use a company to get information from them, thank them by making a purchase.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

i couldn't agree more with the above statement. unless the price is a complete rip off then go with the company who have seen fit to advise you reliably. all these services come at a cost and if we are ONLY price driven, good retailers will disappear far faster than they are at present.

You are also less likely to get dodgy RAM with Crucial than a cheaper generic brand.

I have the memory. I looked at the motherboard book to get the type and took one of my existing memory sticks to the shop with me.

I managed to get 16GB of memory (4x 4GB Kingston memory sticks KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX) from Clas Ohlson in their sale for £19.98 in total which I thought was a bargain.

I only asked the original question because in the past I have always been told to reformat my PC when inserting new memory. Turns out I have been wasting my time all these years :rotfl:

Thanks to everyone for the help :)
