Car Hire Claim Insurance Question
Not quite sure where to post list ...... so apologies.
Regularily go to Spain and hire a car. To avoid those extra insurance policies (windscreen, chasis, tyres etc) that they try to sell you, I have an annual one that covers all the extras.
Last trip got a puncture and hire company told me just to go to the garage and get it repaired/replaced. Did so (needed a new tyre) and am just about to send off claim for £100 to recoup the cost.
Then suddenly the word "claim" registered. Could this affect my "ordinary" car insurance when I go to renew as one of the questions is always "have you made ANY insurance claims in the past 12 months.
Any advice would be welcome as I am now wondering if I am better off just to write off the £100.
Philip

That's an interesting question, as no doubt those that have made claims on a house building or contents insurance will not declare these to their motor insurer. Personally i'd interpret this to mean a claim on any motor insurance policy - and wouldn't class a hire excess waiver policy (or whatever it is called) to be relevant to a motoring policy...... but others may know more.0

it's just a puncture, part of everyday wear and tear. But the excess insurance claim is a tricky one. Read your car insurance terms carefully see what it says about what things need to be disclosed.0

What rubbish aecon5 has quoted!
Since when have you got to declare claims to both house insuramce and car insurance. So, you are saying that if I claim for eg. on my car insurance for a cracked windscreen, I then have to seclare this to my house insurer. That is just wrong and bad advice to put on a forum.0 -

I think that you need to re-read the post that you have just slagged off as arcon5 implied that their opinion was that you don't have to inform motor insurers of a household insurance claim and vice versa.0
