And how will they do that.
It is up to the jobseeker to decide whether they give consent to have their account snooped on by big brother.
Under european law this will always be the case so stop scare mongering. If ids could have done this it would already be in force.0 -
Any idea if this will just apply to the unemployed or will this be for those on tax credits too? Specifically if you have a disability which means you can't work full time? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

It's for all income based benefit claimants. The income based benefits presently known as Working Tax Credits; ESA; JSA; Child Tax Credits; Income Support; Housing Benefit (LHA) will be replaced by the one income based benefit - Universal Credit
From what has been said above, these conditions already apply to jobseekers.
But Universal Credit will close the loophole of those who have been doing as little as they can, so that they get the maximum Tax Credits whilst also avoiding the conditions that job seekers have to meet.
Under Universal Credit, all income based claimants will (quite rightly) be treated the same. If they don't earn enough money per week to comply with their Universal Credit agreement, then they will face Universal Credit conditions.xXMessedUpXx wrote: »Specifically if you have a disability which means you can't work full time?
I assume this will be reflected in their own Universal Credit agreement (the minimum amount thay are required to earn per week, to avoid the Universal Credit conditions)?RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Perhaps a silly question, but I get Income Support Because I get Carers Allowance which doesn't come under UC. Won't that prevent CA as we cannot earn more than £90(?)/16hours? Or are they perhaps increasing CA to cover the 148 hours a week I care for my adult son? Or will they have plans in place to cover every hour I work plus the up to 90 minutes each way to work?
I remember one of my sons social workers quite earnestly assuring me that work would mean a break for me. Foolish me- that means work is the new leisure, before I come home to the real 132 hours works!0 -

Carers allowance isn't included because whilst it's based on what you earn, (you can't earn over £100 a week) it's not income based in the same way that JSA is - IE, your savings are taken into account and income of a partner if you have one.
If you're a carer, then you wouldn't be expected to look for work.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Some JSA is contribution based; as are some ESA claims. It's only the income based benefits for those of working age, that are being replaced by Universal Credit.
Plus under Universal Credit: the anomaly of the income based benefit Tax Credits not counting the savings/capital of the claimant, is ending. Under UC, their claim will be calculated on savings and capital too, in the same way as other income based benefits are assessed now.RENTING?
