And you think that just because you know everyone else should too? I've never seen a job seekers agreement before and was interested to see one. We're not all jobseekers here but it's useful to be informed.

Universal credit will never come into force so why worry.

Universal Credit may be extra slow to roll out nationwide if ever but the Claimant Commitment is here to stay.
  • I understand that Universal Credit may ask employers for feedback on:
    • my applications for jobs
    • job interviews I’m invited to.

Is that only for jobs applied for via the Universal Job Match?

It also says about Universal Credit being cut by £10.20 a day. So basically all the JSA element would be removed?

It looks like a good plan to reduce the official unemployment figures.

If a claimant can't complete one of the activities, it will be up to the adviser to determine whether it's without good reason or not. Potentially leaving the claimant with nothing to live off at all.

I can see another increase in the use of food banks.

As all the job search completed will eventually be logged on UJM then it will apply to all jobs.

How are they going to get the other employers to advertise on there?

Are there plans to improve the site at all?
  • Dear All

The roll out of claimant commitment will start to demand JSA claimants to explain what he or she is doing 5 days per week and to be doing all he / she can do to secure employment.

If a claimant is long term unemployed then this commitment may well require him or her to undertake a training course 2 days per week and relevant voluntary work another 2 days per week leaving the 5th day free for job-seeking.

The permutations of requirements can be infinite. It's all about claimants taking reponsibilty for their jobseeking.

The good old days of just having to write down 3 things each week are ending.

The chill wind of welfare reforms precede UC. UC will happen - just later and at much greater cost then IDS wished for - probably at the cost of his politicl future. Welfare reform is essential - just how much is society prepared to pay to avoid rough sleepers and beggars ?

Will they cover any costs incurred, such as extra travel or childcare?

Do you know what type of training courses will be available?
