Notice periods

afternoon guys,
I'm after a bit of help regarding notice periods.
When i took out my tenency 4 years ago it started on the 12th of Feb. as i get paid on the 15th i wanted to move the rent date to the 17th this was done by me paying for a month a 5 days up front instead of just the first month. my rent has since then gone out on the 17th.
i have just been to give notice on the property and the agent said that my notice was incorrect because i had the date i would be leaving the property down as the 11th not the 16th.
although it doesnt make a great deal of difference i want to be out of the house ASAP. who is right? as my tenance states that the start is the 12th not the 17th.

The short answer is you are correct.
Going by what you are saying you just moved your payment date by a few days, the AST start date would still be the same.
