Part of the Modifications for the regularisation of the loft for building regs in our recent house purchase was painting all the (standard) doors with some kind of fire resistant paint... Might be preferable to installing fire doors and offers some degree of protection

She's got both sets of doors.

Ask her to leave both sets of doors.

You can then mull it over in your own sweet time and do what you want!

You need to weigh up the safety of your family. Some years a neighbour had a fire in their kitchen. The house was completely gutted. Fortunately they all got out. Was a stark reminder. That while the odds are low. Houses do go up.
  • You could always buy fire doors that you like the look of?

The cheap ones might not be all that aesthetically pleasing but (usually for a price) it is possible to get victorian 4/6 panel fire doors for example, if that's what suits the property better.
  • I had mine painted with intumescent paint and certificated by the firm to satisfy building regs

That way I kept my nice victorian doors, satisfied regs, kept my family safe, and don't have to change them if I were to sell

Think this was the firm's paint we used:
