Barclaycard - Paypal

Has anyone set up a Paypal direct debit to overcome paying interest on a balance transfer for Barclaycard?
It was a loophole in Barclaycard's scheme highlighted by Martin about 18 months ago whereby you could spend as little as £1 on your card each month to negate having to pay interest on your balance transfer for an unlimted period. Martin recommended setting up a direct debit for £1 using Paypal.
I now want to cancel the direct debit but have little or no details of my Paypal 'account' - they're contactable in America but I've just been put on hold for long periods without any success (cancelling out any savings I was hoping to make by embarking on this system in the first place).
The original article doesn't seem to exist on this website anymore, which would have been useful because I want to see if there was anything in the original article about cancelling.
Please help!

If it is indeed a direct debit you are talking about then you can call Barclaycard & cancel it yourself. Write off the few quid against the money you have made on the 0% deal.
If on the other hand, it is a Continuous Payment Authority then you will indeed have to speak to Paypal, although I suspect it is the former as I have the same arrangement myself.Ethical moneysaver0 -

Paypal use email addresses as account identifiers. Assuming you used a valid email address to set up a subscription payment you will be getting an email confirmation each time a payment is made.
If you have forgotton the email address you used to set up your account then go here and fill in the details https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_email-recovery
If you know the email address but have forgotten your password then go here https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_forgot-password
Alternatively go to https://www.paypal.co.uk and click on the links beside the member login box.0 -
Hi All,
An easy way out (possibly) could be to 'lose' your card and request a new one - As the new one would have different expiry dates and CVV codes, PayPal shouldn't be able to take money from it!
This would only work if it was a CPA btw!

that wont work steve unless the OP opens a new credit card account separate as any payment will be charged to the account even if card number changes.

ah right, I thought with a CPA, if just the CVV code and/or expiry changed, any transactions to the old number would be rejected!
You really do learn new things on this site sometimes!
Cheers
