pcn advice

Hi.
Couple of weeks ago a parking charge notice was placed on my car.
It happened in England.
Company issuing was jas parking solutions, who are members of bpa.
The vehicle occupants went to staples to buy some stationery, when they arrived the child needed the toilet, so they left the site, and went away.
When they came back, before they did the shopping, ticket was on the car.
They took it with them to the shop, made a purchase and spoke to the lady at the till.
She said it's private company that issues tickets, so they left.
They thought "when we get home we'll write appeal", but after reading about appeals on this website they were not sure what to do next.
Should they talk to the store manager and make formal complain or should they wait for ntk fight the company that issued pcn.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

1. Remove the identification of the driver from above post - or your position is weakened.
2. Wait for NtK - do NOT contact the PPC until you get NtK - between 29 and 56 days after parking event, which will give you plenty of time to read:
3. The 'NEWBIES - Read this first' sticky at the top of the forum index
4. Come back when you've drafted your POPLA appeal or have received confirmation from the retailer (manager NOT the till operator) that they cancelled the ticket for you.
All you need at this stage is covered in the above sticky.

Search this parking forum for keywords 'JAS' or 'Staples'. This has been covered several times and there are 'ready made/here's one we wrote earlier' appeals & POPLA appeals on threads (here or on pepipoo forum). I know because I wrote one for someone about JAS infesting a Staples car park!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That would be an even better edit.0 -
All this editing makes me paranoid. Surely they can't use posts from here if it went to court.0

They can ....... and some have in the past, hence our advice to anonymise potentially revealing text as much as possible (without turning it to something too obtuse). Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. Just don't write anything here that you wouldn't want produced in court e.g. if you don't want to be identified as the driver (there are very good reasons for this) then don't admit to being the driver. Just describe everything in the third person e.g. 'The driver did not see any signs' & not 'I did not see any signs'.
Personally I think people get too paranoid about posting personal details etc If anything knowing that the motorist is getting sound advice from the forum ensures that PPC is more inclined to allow an appeal if they know that they are doomed to fail at POPLA. The PPC are going to see all the details soon enough when you do appeal.0 -

Please get a grip, this is only 'JAS' (a small fry PPC) and I am recalling other threads about them and Staples recently where the documentation was laughably non-compliant and there wasn't a hope in hell of them actually winning against a decent POPLA appeal.
Search this parking forum for the keyword 'Staples' and your results will include a recent POPLA win!
And as for pepipoo if unfamiliar with that forum, just Google these exact words, copy & paste this entire phrase below into a search engine:
Staples JAS POPLA site:forums.pepipoo.com
Read all those results from here and pepipoo and you'll know why we are so relaxed about this one. Easily beaten at POPLA, a mere annoyance that's all for you to quash in a simple appeal process with wording already written!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
