Tablets with 3G or 4G

Hi everyone, was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a tablet. For my husband as he is being quite successful with giving up smoking and I think he could do with cheering up, plus I think an upgrade to Amazon Fire is needed. 10 inch screen preferrable, all he does is a bit of surfing, ebaying and facebook.
I'd like it to have internet so he has access when he's working away but not sure if it is really worth having?

3G tablets generally come at a premium, and you'll need either a PAYG or contract data SIM to go with it. Can he not use local wi-fi whe he is away?
Nexus 10 maybe?
You don't say what your budget is?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
There is not many option for 3G/4G 10" tablet. They are relatively expensive than wifi version & you would need to pay for another sim card for mobile data.
One option you can consider is Asus Padfone 2.

The benefit of this is you don't have to pay extra contract for data & they are relatively cheap as 3G/ 4G Samsung Tab3, Sony Xperia Z tablet are all over £4000 -

That's a bargain. I have the Padfone 1 and paid almost double that price when it came out.
I really can recommend the Padfone. No need to sync between phone and "tablet". Also, the "tablet" has it's own battery and charges the phone, when it is inserted.0 -
Now that really looks like a good bit of kit. I'm open on budget as I just want to get a better one that the Kindle.
I think it's a bit of a waste though as he'll never use the phone, maybe I should just go wifi.0 -
iPad Air with 3G, however these are really expensive especially if you want more storage space too. I have an iPad 4 3G 16GB and that was really expensive over a year ago when I bought it, really overpriced but I love the product.0

I can't really see what benefit it offers over a cheaper tablet tethered to a mobile phone that you already own - the tablet itself doesn't appear to have any 3G capability.0 -

Of course, because it's not a tablet as such. It's called Padfone Station, which acts as a big screen for the phone, which you need to slide in at the back of it.
This kit might be overkill for the OP, but if you want to buy a phone AND a tablet, then this is the way to go, especially at this price.
And the benefit compared to a phone + tablet is, that you don't need to sync your stuff between a phone and a tablet, you can charge your phone from the Padfone Station's battery, and and and ...0 -

Not every phone provider allow tethering.
The main reason for considering this is value for money.
Toshiba AT300 - £338 @ saveonlaptop
is the only 3G tablet I manage to find cheaper than padfone 2.
Knowing the fact that toshiba is not really fast at updating software, personally would say asus is a better option0 -
I know Cube do a fast sub-£200 tablet that will work with USB 3g dongles. So you could use a Samba mobile dongle.
Another option is a 2nd-hand MiFi. This acts like a wireless 3g router. Stick in a '3' PAYG SIM and you can tether to any tablet with WiFi.Never Knowingly Understood.

The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX with 3G/4G is £269. It's only a 7" screen but perfect for travelling with.
Then look for a cheap Data SIM only for the tablet. That will be around £7.50 to £15 per month depending on what data allowance he needs.0
