Gap insurance didn't pay out years ago
My husband has debts from years ago that he is paying off on repayment plans. After discussing this tonight one of them is finance outstanding on a car he had approximately 6 years ago. He traded a new car in and added approximately £1000 on the finance deal on a different car bought from a dealership. At the time he was offered gap insurance from the dealership which he took.
He then unfortunately wrote the car off. The gap insurance failed to pay out with my husband thinking they said the car was too old and the insurance was invalid. They said the dealership should never have sold him the insurance. After trying to argue the toss with the dealership and the insurance providers he eventually gave in and has been repaying the outstanding balance (approx. £4k) on a repayment plan ever since.
Has anyone ever heard of this and can anything be done this late on to rectify the situation?

You will need professional advice on this, you could have a claim against the dealer but if it is already over 6 years it could be time barred. If it isn't then you need to get your skates on.0

Before you do anything I would double check the reasons that they gap insurance did not pay out.
If the car was too old then you have clearly been mis sold a policy which you could never benefit from.
But I would double check there might be more to this than meets the eye as its not normal for them to simply not pay out.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0
