Thanks for confirming what I expected is a ongoing problem. The annoying thing is when people re-pin your images for same competition it cancels both you and the other pinner out because your boards are too similar. Urghhhh

Although some positive I wrote a witty comment on a twitter comp & 4 minutes later someone posted the same comment for the same competition and the promoter chose me as the winner so there is karma on twitter atleast.

One other point assuming someone repinns from you to the same comp wouldn't their pins show as Repinned from and your name? Not sure promoters check where Pins are pinned from tho.

I don't really use Pinterest, but that would make me so angry... It's cheating at the end of the day, I think, or laziness. I'd hope the latter.

Me too, exactly the same, thought is was an accident until I checked and it was repinned to a competition board of theirs. I didn't realise you could block people until I read this, thank you for mentioning it and I have just done so!
  • Good idea, I've blocked people too now. It's frustrating but by posting this thread atleast I know I'm not the only one this happens too. Like I said I've been on Pinterest a year now & this a problem I've only just notice the last 4 months and it's getting worse!

I had people re-pin me lately but it was a comp where the company/website didn't have a pin button so I used that downloaded 'pin it' button I have on my tool bar. I figured maybe they didn't have that facility themselves and were struggling. Luckily no one has flat-out copied me.
I love the idea of a secret board and last minute reveal, so thanks for that tip!

I never win anything in pinterest, so I wonder if it's really worth it. I hang on to the idea that less people enter them so I have more of a chance, but it doesn't seem to bring me luck :(
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!

Stick with Pinterest, I won a Holly Fulton comp last year which was a £500 voucher to spend. When I did that comp I think there was about 40 entries but I've noticed now there tends to be about 70 entries per comp these days - well 40 original entries with the rest being re-pinned from everyone else! hahaha

Even so a £500 win with 40 entries is very good odds so when the big comps do come up on Pinterest its always worth going in for them I think anyway.

off to look up Pinterest comps on MSE Competition time.

Keep with Pinterest definitely hannonle, I almost gave up on them until I won my first competition on there at the end of last week! I think there were around 75 entries, so as SussexGal said the odds are very good.
