Eon and Scotcall

Hello.

Over a year ago I moved out of a flat and settled all my bills. A year later me and my old flatmate received a call from Eon chasing charges for after we moved out (we moved out on the 10th and they are charging up to the 27th) after trying to explain the situation they swiftly sold the debt to scot call. I have sent scot call a letter from my old letting agents advising when tenancy ended, although the letting agent agents gave the wrong address on the letter. Scot call keep saying they can't hold the account any longer, what does this mean? Can they add charges etc? Also could I just tell them to contact the letting agents to sort this out?

Thanks for any help.

Scotcall are a very agressive Debt Collection Co. and will keep after you for as long as it takes to get money from you.
Forget dealing with them and put this incorrect billing problem back firmly into Eons court.

Your beef is with Eon, not Scotcall, as it was Eon who issued the erroneous bill.
Write a letter headed Complaint to Eon enclosing the proof of your tenancy End Date, asking why they ignored your telephoned advice that the bill was wrong and demanding they issue a correct fully detailed bill, and pointing out that you will require recompense from them for any costs you incur in dealing with further demands from Scotcall.

    Hi Axeman187

As dogshome says, if you let us have a copy of the relevant Tenancy Agreement confirming the dates you were responsible, we can amend the account accordingly.

Also agree with dogshome about raising a complaint. This will stop further follow up whilst the complaint is resolved.

Hope this helps point you in the right direction.

  • Thanks for the advice, what would be the correct address to send complaints to? The letter confirming the end of tenancy has a different address to the bill as the building fell under two postcodes, does this present a problem?

    Hi Axeman187

Full contact details are on your bills, usually on the second page.

As long as the documents you send clearly show the period you were responsible for the property, then all should be ok. To be certain, might be an idea to include your Council Tax documents as well.

    Hope this helps.
