My DH lost his Mum a couple of years ago and we attempted to contact his dad, who he had lost contact with when he was a child (they were divorced) to find out that his dad had died a couple of years before that. Very sad, he lost both parents in a week, having not seen his Dad in nearly 30 years.
Don't let that happen to anyone else out there- swallow your pride and contact your estranged family member x

Thanks, cousinjack, couldn't put it better myself. You always think that you've loads of time but that's not always true. I found that out during the last week.

Me neither. Even less so since knowing of someone very vulnerable who was all prepped to go on the show to find long lost dad and when the blood tests were negative the show just shrugged their shoulders and sent them home.
