We are making the boys 2 bedrooms back into one room and the builder is booked. OH is gradually taking down the partition wall and bagging up the plaster. The carpet is going but I cant bear to walk past it, knee deep in plaster powder - if I vacuumed though I would probably ruin the vaccum so I just have to grit my teeth.
When a radiator was put into the downstairs bathroom it took 2 weeks (in between the day time jobs) and the mess in the bathroom, kitchen, stairway and the back bedroom where the water tank had to be seen to be believed - its taken me 2 years to recover from this and now its going to start all over again
In order of things I think having builders in, even when your own OH is doing part/some of the work is worse than childbirth :rotfl:
In Spring we are moving onto the building site.... I may need therapy!100 -
Just got back from my local M&S they don't have any ss tills........I'm now going to go and sit in a corner and cry:(
My local only has manned tills too - last year, because I knew that the M&S tills see the value before the discounts were applied, I was going to be brave and chance handing over a £5 off £25 voucher from the Xmas leaflet when buying a meal deal and some other multibuys. So, I confidently went though the manned till, put everything through and the bill came to about £17 after discounts .... but then I completely chickened out when it came to handing over the voucher! I just couldn't do it!Luckily I had an absolutely brill SA who saw the voucher in my hand and said "do you want me to see if that will work - if your total was more than £25 before the discounts it should come off" :j:j:j I could've kissed her!
:T
I reckon I'll head to a bigger store this time with SS tills as I want to try "the double" with the Green Redeem voucher as well0 -
Well done tiger, we will have to support each other through the next day.
And you have asked Zippy exactly what I was thinking when I read his post earlier. :rotfl:
Thanks but it was a toughie. How did you find yours after the xmas break? I'm doing another one tomo. Had planned to go to M&S and use vouchers but that will make my fast day unbearable opening the fridge and seeing all kinds of yummy stuff!! So instead, I've stocked up on grapes, pineapples and yogurts for tomo:D
I bought 2 pineapples cos I want that pineapple corerwill get another pineapple next week.
Tiger
I'm a body double for Claudia Schiffer and i wont get out of bed for less than [STRIKE]£10k per day[/STRIKE] a 1p find0 -

Ah, that made me laugh. Talking of old videos/phones etc, I remember when the TV control used to be on a wire to plug in :rotfl::D
Christmas circa 1979/1980 me and my brother had a joint pressie...it was a black and white portable TV with a dial knob to tune the channels in. We were beside ourselves with excitement :T0 -
Hi Everyone,
Just popped to my local T's in W~~ford and bought this 6ft inflatable, light up Santa for next year at the reduced price of £10.00, its still just under £60 in Amazon.
Also when going through the self scan till there were leaflets there with 2 vouchers on for £5.00 off a £15 spend, the first valid till 19th Jan and the 2nd valid 20th to 31st Jan. Only valid for the W**ford or Ric***nswth Store.
Hope all is well with you all, and hugs to those who need them.

With the memories being shared, I think most people on here are in the 40's!
Did you have one of those ring ariels that you had to keep moving?
I remember one of my first jobs was inputting a data programme into a computer.
Typing 00011010010100101010101 for 8 hours a day! It was horrendous and I was rubbish! I always kept getting the 0 and 1 in the wrong order!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Don't forget to add stuff - that biscuit that you had with your coffee, milk, sugar etc or that chip or two you pinched
it all adds up.
It only works well if you weigh and measure everything. Don't just pour out your portion of cereal and add the 1 portion measure on the app because most likely there will be a vast difference in weight.
I weigh and measure everything, its a habit i'm not likely grow out of. I rarely eat out and find it most difficult.
Try to enter your own exercise which is much easier if you have a heart rate monitor as that gives a better reflection of calories burned rather than what it comes up as it can be off by miles  Also doesn't take into account afterburn.
Also you can set your own ratio of carbs, proteins, fats to suit your lifestyle or goal.
And even after all that it it won't be 100% accurateTake it with a pinch of salt and use it as a rough guide - ultimately go by how you feel.
Yes I've got an electronic scales and its quite satisfying weighing things and adding them to the list - I did 5 grammes of sunflower seed to go in my porridge this morning and you get a nice crunchy pile.
I eat fairly healthy during the day anyway - porridge, muesli, yogurt and fruit - its getting portion sizes right for evening meal that is going to take some adjusting and not snacking in the evening or at least altering the things I snack on.
(Mind you I found a very out of date prawn cocktail crisp packet today at the back of the cupboard and I will be eating that tonight and it will be going on todays food diary and it wont be going on the bird table :rotfl: )
Adding the exercise bit is not easy - vigorous vacuuming and cleaning does not seem to count and nor does enthusiastic gardening
We don't eat out much either, mainly because there is no where to eat out around here but also because I object to the cost of it all - £10 at least in McDonalds  and similar for bacon cheese toasties and a drink in the Morrisons caf! which I could do at home myself for less than £3
Any number of more exciting things I can do with £10“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
If i am using a moc that i worry will set off alarm bells i scan it whilst still in my clear plastic coupon wallet. Then if an SA gets called over i just explain that it accidentally scanned when i was looking for my bankcard in my wallet (which i cant find so can you just cancel the whole thing
)
If using ss tills just be prepared when till asks for authorisation, it's for the wine! Daughter nearly had a heart attack when total was showing 30.xx and it asked for authorisation. all the green redeem vouchers have same barcode.0
