Death in North Cyprus + cost of solicitors? Thanks

So let's go back to an earlier question, you say there is a will, so who is named as executor(s) in that will? If solicitors are NOT named, then there is no reason to use them, the named executors can do the work themselves, and the only 'difficulty' is obtaining a death certificate which is valid in the UK.
Although we usually say 'get several copies' when registering a death in the UK, I found that two was plenty: I didn't need to post one off to every financial institution as I was usually able to take it into a local branch and they would take a photocopy and verify that they'd seen the original. So in your situation (and knowing what I know now) I wouldn't get more than 3, one of which would never leave me ... (that's 'me' as a co-executor, btw).Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Have been quoted by several solicitor firms in London today that the cost is between £200-£250 per hour to obtain probate.
Is this reasonable in London? 20 hours work would be £5k!!
It's reasonable in so far as it's the going rate
DIY is far cheaper provided you know what you are doing0
