Working Tax credit

Why is it you have to work 30 hours to get this?
If I worked 30 hours I wouldn't need any tax credits. I work just under 24 hours and get no benefits. I can't pay all my household bills let alone think about eating or buying anything else like toiletries and cleaning aids.

Have no dependant children now but bills and rent are not going to get any lower. Not having any luck getting more hours in present job and trying to find a second job is proving difficult.
I'm worried I will lose my house.0 -
Have you applied for housing benefit?
Could you find 6 hours cleaning and fit that round your current hours? Do one or two weekend shifts in a pub?
Is there anything on the up your income board that you could do.
You could post an SOA on the debt free wannabe board, they're good at suggesting cut backs.0 -

I'm doing everything I can (sitting here freezing cold to save on heating lol

Trouble with a second job (if I ever even get an interview for one) is the 20% tax so will have to work a few more hours to make up for that, My manager won't change my current shifts to enable me to free up a couple of days to get another job.
Sad thing is, like many working poor we are working solely to get by so what's the point??0 -

The number of jobs you have is entirely irrelevant to your tax bill. You can share your personal allowance between jobs if you wish - just tell HMRC

Get a job. Plenty of supermarket jobs (less physical than cleaning). You have 8 months to get 30 hours.0

I have got a job, it's just not 30 hours. And the SUPERMARKET I work at won't give me more hours.
And where do you get 8 months from?0 -
