Don't know what Logon failure message means.

I've had the same password to logon to my computer for the last 5 years, and never had any problems before. However, suddenly a message says
I cannot gain access because:

"The User Profile Service failed the logon.
User Profile cannot be loaded".

Please can anyone tell me what this means and how I can sort it.

What computer is it, what operating system is it running and is it on a network or stand alone?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

I'm guessing XP, Vista, or 7.....either way it's a corrupted user profile that needs repairing (the exact fix being dependant on the OS).

The user data is still there though, and can quite easily be accessed using several methods if needs be.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it
