Car Insurance Quotes and Credit Ratings

I am a Provisional driver and I am looking to take my test at the end of the month. Should I pass, I will be buying a car of my own to drive.
To be sure that I am getting the best deal, I will be looking on comparison websites for different types of vehicles to see which would suit me best.
I was told that if you do this too many times, this is going to effect my credit rating. Is this the case and if so, how many different quotes can I get for cars before it will have an effect?
I'm a little concerned about this as, how am I supposed to make an educated decision on the type of car to get if I can't get different quotes?
If someone could set the record straight for me that would be great.
Thanks

Don't worry.
Enquiries by insurance companies don't affect your credit rating.0 -
Thank you for your reply. That's a weight off my mind.0

With young drivers admiral / bell tend to be the cheapest on comparrison sides.
Be warned, input to many cars and they stop showing up for (30 days?) I believe
I ended up putting my first name as my second name to get round this once...as it seems to go by your name xDPeople don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I was going to try someone like Sheila's Wheels or Diamond as I've heard that they are very good as well. Would anyone recommend any others?
Always good to get a choice
