Help with credit/electoral roll!

Hi everyone..
Looking for a bit of advice. I'm 23, and have only just started 'using' credit, I have 2 mobile phone contracts and a current account.
I accessed my credit report, having been declined for a credit card, it was with Experian and it was showing as very low - although all my credit accounts were green (they were opened in June of 2013). I am not on the electoral roll yet, I have just today sent away the form, can anyone help me out with some tips how to improve? All my bills are always paid on time etc.. Is it only because I'm not on the roll that my rating is low? I had a browse through some other threads and see a lot of people saying the electoral roll doesn't matter!
Thank you

Being on the Electoral Roll has a massive impact on your Credit Files. Make that your first point to resolve. Once your registered on the electoral roll you will probably find it will take a few months for the CRA's to reflect this on your credit report so don't think this is going to fix it overnight.
Once this is done apply for a credit builder credit card (barclaycard initial, Aqua, Capital One etc) and make sure you pay in full every month.
This should help you start to build a good credit worthiness0 -
Thanks very much
Do you have any idea how long it takes to build a history? I would like to get a mortgage some time before I am 30 but at the moment it doesn't look great!0 -

Certainly not 7 years.
A couple of years of positive credit history would be more than sufficient to obtain a mortgage (subject to affordability/deposit etc).
Getting on the electoral roll is definitely the first step.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Agreed a few years good credit history should be fine :-)0
