Faulty branded product, lost receipt and can't remember which shop it was purchased

Hi
I'm hoping you can provide some advice? I purchased a branded pair of boots in october when on a shopping trip to London, unfortunately the sole is coming away from the boot and I can't find the receipt and as I was on a day trip to London I can't even remember what shop I bought them from. I moved house shortly before therefore in the ongoing unpacking the receipt has vanished. I've contacted the manufacturers as they're a clearly branded product and they are refusing to help and although I've quoted the SOG act they're telling me that my contract is with the shop. I'm at a loss at what to do now? Any advice would be great.

Cobblers...I mean get it repaired!0 -
Thanks for your advice, not really what I wanted to hear, just gutted as they cost me £90! I haven't even asked for the money back just for maybe a repair but they're not even prepared to do that0

How did you pay? A card statement might shed some light on where they were bought. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

As a rule I usually use my card for everything, never carry cash, apart from this one occasion! I was birthday shopping.0

The problem with going into legalese is that it gets peoples back up and can mean things get escalated to validate legal claims where people may take a more legal view. As has been said, SOGA covers you and the retailer, not the manufacturer.
Realistically, it isnt going to cost much to have the soles reglued back in place -v- your time spent ranting and searching for receipts etc0 -
I hadn't thought of that, I think you can tell by the lack of wear on the soles that they aren't second hand. I was also wondering whether they thought they were fake or knock offs? I had offered to send the shoes to them however they're not interested, following the advice you've all given they don't have to. I will probably have to look into repairs, the heel also will need replacing though don't know if this is down to the way I walk or whether its the shoe at fault so it will probably cost me £20 to fix them - that's if they can be. To be honest they're not very good quality boots, I've already had to stitch the button holes on them as they kept coming open and the black coating on them also has come off, not to mention at the seams they've gone dull where the shiny coating is deteriorating. I wont be using that brand again, though if they'd been more willing to help I might have.0
