Buying in St Helens / Warrington area

What about Rainhill? I live there currently. It's right next to the M62 and the St Helens expressway. It's a 'real' village - with a butcher, baker, Co-op, Post Office, several decent pubs, very good schools and a railway station. Bits of Widnes are also nice, though I don't know the area so well...
Yes of course, forgotten about Rainhill. It does have a 'villagey' feel but only ten minutes away from Prescot and Widnes which have good shopping and retail parks. Also nearby is Whiston Hospital. Very handy for the motorway and on the main train line too I think? Also easy to get to Speke.0 -
What about Formby, Maghull or Ormskirk.
In a car related emergency your partner could get to Speke on Misery Rail (one train every 15 mins). And not that far from M57 which takes you straight to Speke.0 -

£175K - 1 mile from beach. 3 beds. On my street.0 -
Newton-le-Willows is where I live, and there are some lovely parts to it that are well within your budget. The estate named after different birds is good, the one named after trees is bad.
Here are some I would say are worth considering.

If I was buying in Warrington I'd definitely make Chapelford Urban Village top of my list, a purpose built modern community on the outskirts of Warrington near the M62. Its ideal for families due to all of the amenities that have been incorporated into it.
With your budget you aren't going to get very much in the Grappenhall / Stockton Heath / Appleton / Stretton areas to be honest.
As mentioned, avoid Longford, Orford, Latchford and also Padgate.
With a £200k budget other places I'd consider would be Penketh, Westbrook, Saxon Park and Lingley Green - you'll get a decent house for that price in those areas. Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -

I'm in Prescot and i like it here but the Op i think is looking for something with a bit more social life. We've got a couple of small Chinese and an Indian restarants but not much else, you're going to have to go 3mls into StHelens for that or if you were wanting a night club. Shopping is good though with a big Tesco.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Some advice that we have been given is to avoid the Latchford, Orford & Longford areas of Warrington. We're told that Stockton Heath, Thelwall, Grappenhall areas are nice.0

Good advice there, generally, south of the Manchester Ship Canal in Warrington is better(& more expensive!).
Within the next few years Warrigton may become a terrible place for traffic.
They're building a second Widnes/Runcorn Bridge which is said to going to be £2 a trip, the old bridge is free at the moment. I think many people will decide to start going via Warrington.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
