Travel insurance: claim from insurer and airline

My luggage was recently delayed on an easyjet flight, and I had taken out the additional insurance offered with the flight. When I went to claim for the items I had to buy on the trip, I saw that I could claim up to £100 on the additional policy I'd purchased with the flight, which was with Mondial, and up to £50 from easyjet themselves. The Easyjet claim was separate from the insurance policy and is offered to all passengers regardless of whether they had other insurance or not.
I claimed for two shirts from Mondial for £100 and a pair of trousers from easyjet for £50. Both paid up. Mondial have now written to me asking me to pay them the £50 paid to me by easyjet because when I made my claim with them, I signed their claim form "giving them rights of salvage/recovery against any person or organisation".
Of course, that's true, because if I hadn't signed the form, they would not have paid the £100 claim.
However, because I am claiming for separate items (two shirts from Mondial and a pair of trousers from easyjet), aren't these treated as separate claims even though they occur from the same delayed luggage incident? Do I have to give the money back to Mondial?

You need to read the small print, but I suspect that the claims are aggregated - so it doesn't matter about the number of items you claim for.
Effectively, your total claim was for £150. You had one policy for £50 which paid out. You had another policy for £100 which also paid out, but they have the right to claim the amount paid out by the other insurance policy.
You thought you had a total of £150 insurance - unfortunately, you probably only had insurance of £100, in total, in respect of any one claim.

you can only claim off one policy.
you can't claim half of your baggage of policy X and other items of baggage under Policy Y.0 -
It's not a claim off two policies. It's one claim off of easyjet as an airline, and one claim off my separate insurance policy bought through easyjet. Easyjet, the airline, pay out the £50 to anyone whose luggage is delayed (to a degree), regardless of whether you have any additional insurance or not.
But, as a matter of interest separate from this, why can't you claim off two policies for the same claim? It's not illegal, as far as I'm aware.0
