So people can gain a pass using takemytests(dot)com, jobtestsuccess(dot)co.uk and many others I'm sure.

But have any of these people actually got a job as a result of cheating? I know it's frustrating not to get interviews, but if you're not good enough to pass the test without cheating and get found out at interview anyway, you're not really gaining anything (other than perhaps a bit of interview practice, but you may have blown your chances of ever getting a job with that employer).0

Try asking at your Uni careers service for help in preparing for these tests... There are some good free practice materials on-line: I found links to them somewhere in the 'Student room' website.0

Is this what we are churning out of universities nowadays?
What many companies want is a win at any cost mentality, so yes.
I've met a few graduates (lots) in my 25 years since graduating, and the absolute belief and arogance in a fresh out of a decent university new starter is not new. I coined the phrase, The L'oreal grad....because you ain't worth it.
But to the OP. Go see the careers people and practise. Invest now for your future. Do it !!!!0 -
Honest to goodness those tests are not that hard. I would really worry about employing someone in a banking role who can't manage simple exercises like taking information from tables and charts and calculating percentages....
Considering that you're just talking about internships now, maybe take some time to practice now as you're going to have to do loads of these things when applying for graduate positions.
I would also add that I've had to resit numerical tests at 2 of the assessment centres I've recently attended and it would be a total waste of your time to lose the job because you failed the numerical test at that stage!Sealed Pot Challenge #239

Thanks Aimee, but I'm not considering cheating to just pass, more to get the highest possible mark. I can probably get through the tests, but am tempted to cheat to get better results - as I know results can be a consideration in the hiring process.
The only advice you're going to get here is to practice. The questions are all very similar and there are plenty of free versions online:

This might be helpful if you don't already know how to calculate a future value. I've seen people do this the long way which just wastes time:

I would make 2 points here:-
1) If you can't do or struggle with these type of tests then that job is not for you as they are looking for applicants with certain key skills.
2) Many of these tests have built in lie scales so if you try to cheat it will be apparent and they will de-select you anyway.0 -

You are either good at doing these tests (with practise) or not - fairly good indicator of whether you are suited to the job to be honest. I didn't really do a lot of practise and didn't struggle to get interviews. I'd worry if one of my friends had cheated, that they'd later have difficulties at interview stage/with the job.
By the way, these companies aren't daft. I went for a 2nd stage test at a well known city firm, where you do logical mathmatical test amongst others, there was one other applicant in the room. I got one question into it and it was obvious that he did not understand it at all. It was so painful to watch that I stopped my test and took 10 mins to explain to him how to do it. He stopped sweating and got on with it. I didn't have time to finish that bit then, but they offered us both a place in the next round because they liked that I'd stopped, worked as a team and that he had listened, asked relevant questions and then applied himself. They valued that skillset more than the % we scored on the test. I valued that they thought this way. 9 years later and I'm still with the same firm....just that I am the other side of the interviewing table now.
Don't bother cheating - either do it properly or go for something else.0
