Faulty oven - B&Q

I have a faulty Baumatic electric fan oven, purchased from B&Q.

It is a few months outside the 12 months warranty, so B&Q won't help.

I mentioned the SOGA, and they pointed out that the onus is on me to prove the fault with the oven.

Does anybody have any idea on how I go about doing this and will I be able to recoup any costs involved?

The problem is, when the oven is used on full power for say 20 mins, the power to the cooker switches off completely. Looking on the internet is seems to be a thermostat problem.

Get an electrician to examine the oven and provide a report that you can take back to B&Q. Although if it really is a thermostat it might be worth asking the electrician how much it would cost to fix, it might be cheap enough to make it not worthwhile pursuing with B&Q.

Getting an electrician to look at it and then repair it, will make it worth while enough pursuing B&Q to fix it.

If I am getting somebody to inspect it, logically, it would be cheaper to get them to fix it whilst they are at it.

But, would I then be able to claim these costs back from B&Q, if they are not the ones to repair it?

Finding the fault and saying the trermostat is broken is not enough.

The inspector needs to say why the thermostat became faulty which means examining the thermostat, it has to be an inherent fault present at the time of purchase and not just a random fault due to wear and tear or over use.

On a side note these are easy to replace, just buy one for your model online and replace it yourself, anyone who can use a screw driver with half a brain can do it.

Where do you get these screwdrivers with half a brain?

Have you got a link? ;)

If it is a straight forward job, I am sure I could manage it myself, the problem will be if it isn't just that part.

I am going to have a look at the weekend and then see if I need to call in someone to look at it.
