Faulty oven - Baumatic

I have a faulty electric fan oven, which is a Baumatic which I purchased from B&Q.

Outside of 12 warranty by a few months, so I can't get any help from them.

The problem is, when the cooker is used on full power, for say 20 minutes, the power completely cuts out to the oven.

I have searched on google and it looks like a problem with the thermostat?

Apart from that, it works as it should.

There's a good few possibilities. Just a couple of points I'm wondering about. First, do you mean the oven stops heating, or that the fuse blows/breaker switches off? Also, does the oven have any kind of timer feature? These can cause all kinds of random turning on and cutting out problems, often by being accidentally activated by someone who has forgotten it even exists. Last thing, does the fan spin when you turn it on?
  • Why cant oyu get help from Baumatic?
I have a Baumatic dishwater and need a new lower basket but someone told me they went bust?
    Anyone can confirm that?
  • They have gone bust but Hoover have taken over them and have also honoured any warranties.

Is the fan still turning ? - if not, it could be over heating and hence tripping out.

The oven completely looses power and switches off, it doesn't blow the fuse or breaker, it is like an internal fuse/breaker.

From searching online, the symptoms point to the thermostat. The oven gets to a certain temperature and the thermostat cuts power completely to the oven.

This isn't how the thermostat should work, when it gets to temperature and then stops the heating element with all other power still working, it completely looses all power to the oven. It has to cool for a few minutes, then totally reset, including the digital clock.

I am pretty sure it is the cooker thermostat that is faulty, this weekend I am going to try and take the cooker out myself and see what the part is and how much it is.

Baumatic have gone bust, but as clockworks says, Hoover have taken over their warranties.

I only had 12 month warranty, but the oven is about 15 months old.

No, it is a total loss of power. Digital clock, fan, everything, goes off.

It all points to the oven thermostat being faulty, when it gets to a certain temperature it kicks in, probably as some safety default, and cuts all power.

The problem is, you can't even cook a pizza, without being stood over the oven and resetting it when it gets hot.

Could be a faulty thermal overload cutout (TOC) or a faulty thermostat allowing oven to overtemp and trip TOC

^ Do you think this is something I will be able to tell having a look at it myself?

I like to have a go at most things DIY, but I know when to leave alone and get a professional in.

Do you have a portable oven thermometer ? If so you could test the oven by putting it inside at the top and seeing what it reads when the lecky trips . If it is above 240 C it's the oven stat faulty.

Personally I would be getting it professionally serviced.
