Casino win and customs

Just had an email from a friend out in Vegas, he has won some money and was wondering if he had to declare it on entry.

Any one know? I couldn't see anything on the Customs website

  • He'll have to declare anything more than $10,000 to US Customs before he leaves. The casino may have given him a form for this.

I think the limit in the UK is £10,000 (or currency equivilent) before it has to be declared.

Unless he has already filled out the forms in the casino he'll have had something like 20 percent deducted as if he was a US tax payer . This is only for high value wins ....so depends what he classes as a big win though !

I would open a bank account in USA / Caymen Islands and feed off the money for several years.

Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I am guessing poker also, but hard to tell his emails and his one phone call seem to be in the language of Jack Daniels. I have forwarded him the links.
