5/25 for me please Shaggy. Sorry not to post yesterday, just trying to focus on work and keep myself away from home in the early days of stopping drinking, which means I'm taking all the overtime I can get. Win-win really, longer hours at better rate = more money, less time at home = less chance of a beer.
Despite my positivity, this is really starting to get hard. I'm starting to feel like I'm quitting smoking now - The 'cravings' and 'voices' are getting a bit strong for my liking, and I'm really not sure how to control it (still smoke though...).
Guess I just need to try to ride out the storm and really REALLY push my willpower.
As for changes, what can I say. I'm so much more positive and awake in the mornings. I'm packing my own lunches, I actually hear my alarm in the morning, I've started to have breakfast before going to work, I'm a lot more patient and level minded etc etc... There are so many wins to a life without alcohol!!
Keep it up, members of the thread. Life really is a special thing when it isn't ruled by alcohol!0 -

You're doing really well and you've already come up with one answer: distraction. And as you're getting paid for it too, that's a big plus. Perhaps you can think of ways to relax without a drink: some people go to the gym or go to bed early. Personally I found it really tough to begin with especially around the time I would normally have a drink (6 o'clock) but gradually it got easier. Sometimes you have to go an hour at a time and as it gets later in the evening then I found I was determined not to spoil an AF day.
You've set yourself a very high target for the month, you'll feel brilliant when you achieve it. Meanwhile remember every day counts and good luck. :T0 -
Hang on in there Jimmy. Maman's absolutely right, distraction works a treat and the longer you go without a drink, the more straightforward it becomes. I found reading sober blogs and books on stopping drinking helped me to keep focused in the early days when I found myself hearing to that voice. (One of the sober blogs, Tired of Thinking About Drinking calls that voice Wolfie.)Better is good enough.0

Morning :hello:
1 more AFD for Wednesday.
I was brave and got on the scales this morning and was STS (still the same) which I was pleased with after Easter. I'm out tonight - so a new diet starts tomorrow. Lost 5 Llbs so far this year - more to come hopefully.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
