Washing machine delivered with a dent.

Just thought I'd let you know about my experiences with Currys over a washing machine delivered with a dent on the front. I called them to complain and ask for a replacement. They said I would need to speak to Samsung to arrange a replacement or they could offer 5-10% compensation. I explained that this wasn't enough for me to consider, so I rang Samsung today and they immediately offered me 20%. I ummed and ahhed and decided to accept as the dent is quite small. Just shows you should never accept the first offer.:D

Me too! How quick were you to notify them of the damage?

Also, just to clarify...... Samsung paid you in the end?

I can't post links as a new user but if you search on the forums for, "Received damaged Goods. Currys refusing to replace item", you'll get the gist. Gits!!!

    Thanks

I rang Currys the evening of the delivery but it was too late to speak to Samsung. Currys said they would make a note of it and i should ring Samsung the next day, which I did. I think they said you needed to notify them within 48 hrs, but I might be wrong on that. When I spoke to Samsung they would send a claim form in the post, which I haven't received yet, but hopefully in the next day or two.

    Good luck with your claim.

You DIDN'T need to speak with Samsung - your contract was (is) with Currys, and it was (is) their legal obligation to resolve your issue. It's just sometimes easier to deal with the manufacturer under their warranty than deal with a retailer under SOGA.
  • in my case it seems that the two companies, currys and zanussi, are playing me off against each other. The currys customer service people initially said "yes you can get your replacement, you'll need to ring zanussi for an uplift number", knowing full well that zanussi wouldn't do this. they are rogue traders!
