Issues with internet since updating Open Office

I never had this issue before updating OO.

I use Google Chrome on W7 and noticed these things:
. Google Mail - my e-mail provider has https on the address bar crossed out
. Silly pop ups that appear all over the place. Even with web pages open on their own accord
. Twice I had a window open and it goes to this survey with a woman speaking what is on the screen. Needless to say I did not do the surveys.
. Is generally slower

I d/l OO yesterday and checked the control panel/programs section and listed my programs in earliest date order. There were some programs which were downloaded yesterday and deleted them. Not made much difference.

OO is a program that MSE recommend and never had this issue when I first downloaded it.

How do I get my internet experience back to what it was before I updated Open Office?

Where did you download OpenOffice from?
    What anti-virus are you using?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

    Run MalwareBytes .
Sounds like a dodgy install from a not genuine source .

ScarletMarble - OO might be a bit out of date now - LibreOffice was developed from it and is generally regarded as being better and more up to date, might be worth giving that a go...

OO is not being 'updated', it's effectively sidelined without any further funding for development.
So I'd second JJ Egan-you have fallen for a dodgy download scam and have installed malware.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
