Transferring Pics from Blackberry

Hi

I'm getting rid of my phone and I've got about 500 pics and some video clips I want to transfer to my pc. I'm having mega trouble :-(

I've tried inserting the micro chip into adapter but it says file empty.

I've then linked the phone to my pc with the blackberry cable - the pc makes a bleeping noise when I plug in the USB to pc - but then it isn't showing an external drive (such as D:). Not sure if it is supposed to though. If I plug a memory stick into the same USB port, it shows up as an external D: drive and you can see the files.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please?

Many thanks
Terrysdelight

    What blackberry is it ?

have you installed Blackberry Link, or Blackberry Desktop Manager on your pc ?

They will allow you to transfer files between phone and computer, and they also contain the drivers for the blackberry device manager, which will also allow you to access the phone as a removable drive

how it shows up on your compute depends on what mode you have set in the device itself, you need to switch it to mass storage device for it to show up as a separate drive

Thanks so much. Yes, the blackberry desktop wasn't installed on this pc. I installed it on the old one and forgot to do. I'll install and see if that sorts it. Sure it will.

BTW - its a blackberry torch 9800 and also my son's blackberry curves 9200 and 9230.

Thanks - it worked. All data now transferred.

Can anyone tell me how to wipe the memory of my blackberry - is it just reset to factory settings?

EDIT: Found it, it was on the blackberry desktop too.

yes reset to factory settings will wipe the device.

you could have also done it from the device itself, in the settings menu
