How negotiable are British Gas on boiler quotes?

Has anyone tried haggling with British Gas on boiler installation quotes?

Also, the first guy that came out to quote said he could do me a "discount" if I paid on the day which implies they have a bit of a negotiation power on a sales level (think it was only about £25 though).

My installation has been delayed by a day due to the bad weather/overrun and after complaining about having to take another day off work, they gave me some money off - not sure if this helps but they must have some wiggle room.

Get a quote from a local and you will quickly realise unless BG will knock tens of % off that they will likely not come that close.

In my experience they are very expensive.

British gas are exceptionally expensive. You could easily pay them twice what you pay a small local firm. I wouldn't haggle, I'd shop elsewhere.

I agree with above BG are very pricey. Get an independent in and compare their quote.

I would love to follow BG around after they have quoted. As a rule of thumb I do the same job for roughly half the price. Or I can do it for a grand less than them and make a grand more than I normally would. Scandalous!!!
