Anyone know the best way to do this?? Where is the best place to look for theatre breaks which includes rail cost and hotel?? Or am I best off booking rail, hotel and tickets all separate??
Taking my teenage daughter to her first proper theatre show, hopefully in half term break.
Thanks in advance for any tips

It depends on what you mean by 'best' ...
It will almost certainly be cheaper to organise train travel , hotel and theatre separately, but more hassle, and if you have a particular show in mind you might not be able to get tickets for it.
Theatre breaks are often advertised in our local paper, which might be a place to look.
If you want to do it alone....
You don't say where you are travelling from, but look at buying advance train tickets when they on sale around twelve weeks prior to the date you want to travel. These can be very cheap, but restrict you to specific trains. Book via a site that doesn't charge a booking fee (e.g. not Trainline) - the relevant train companies site is usually a good choice and may offer further discounts. Look at buying a Friends & Family railcard for further savings if you don't have one already.
If you are just looking for somewhere clean but basic to lay your head there are a number of budget chains with Central London locations - e.g. Travelodge, Premier Inn, Tune etc.
Travelodge Covent Garden is a good location for the theatres - they have twin and family rooms as well as the standard doubles.
Although they sometimes have sales, in general book in advance to get the best savings - look for saver and supersaver prices which mean you are not able to cancel but offer a better price than the flexible rates.
Most theatres have a scheme where they offer a few cheap tickets on the day - if you do end up in the Covent Garden Travelodge, I'd recommend Warhorse for this - it is on just 100 yards from the hotel and the box office opens at 10am.
I don't have kids so I'm not sure when half term is, but also look into the 'Get Into London Theatre' that is currently running (i think until mid-Feb) for cheap tickets, and also look at SherlockHolmes85's thread for some more good ideas on ways to get cheap tickets.

<Edit> Also - I forget to mention that travelling by train you can use your ticekts to get 2-4-1 offers , which do include some theatre shows (check the details, I think you need to book in advance but show your train tickets on the day)
