TV keeps going to standby

My telly has started to turn itself onto standby when you are watching. The worst time is when you first turn it on, usually its then okay, but today it seems to be getting worse. Does anyone know why it is doing this? Is it likely to be expensive to repair?

Any comments would be appreciated.

There could well be a dry joint in there, where the solder is no longer in contact at a particlar component. This may be due to normal wear (in which case its a simple repair) but there may be an issue with some of the circuitry which is causing overheating/stress and therefore the dry joint has developed. I cant really say how much it'll cost to repair though. Take it down to a local tv repair shop and see what they say.
