Debenhams/Santander store card

Options
Hi all, I have just had my reply back from Santander for 2 store cards that I had one was Debenhams and the other was new look.

when I took out both cards I was unemployed I was a stay at home mum with a son who has special needs.

Santander have said in their reply that the Debenhams card was taken out on the 14th august 1998, over the phone this is a total lie as the card was taken out in the December in a Debenhams store in Swansea !!!!

It also sauys that the new look card was also taken out ovewr the phone and this again is wrong as it was taken out in my local shop.
I t also goes on to say that as I was with my partner who worked over 16 hours a week I was still covered even though he is self employed.

Does anyone have any advice as to which way I should go with this is it worth going to genworth ?
any advice appreciated
many thanks

Do you have proof of the date your card was applied for? What about proof that the other card was taken out in store? Do note that cards were often taken in store, but the PPI later sold over the 'phone.

Be absolutely certain of your facts before you contest the Bank's records.

I don't ever remember being asked about PPI but I do know for a fact that both of the cards were taken out in store and not over the phone
regarding the Debenhams I know the card was taken out at xmas time and it is saying that the ppi was taken out on the 14th august 1998, is there any way that I can find out how the ppi was taken out as I really do not remember having a phone call about it.
    I s it worth contacting Genworth ?

    Thanks for your reply

Do you have any paperwork to disprove their contention?

You can ask the Bank and they'll obviously tell you their records show you took it out by 'phone.

To be honest, these are minor quibbles that are distracting you from the major problems with your complaint.

In 1998 insurance sales for store cards were yet to be regulated.
In addition, how are you going to show that you weren't covered by the PPI and so were mis-sold? Do you have proof that your husband was self employed sixteen years ago?
