hello, really hoping someone can help me.
I sold an item on ebay on the 12th of november. the item was delivered in person and cash was paid. the person was happy with the item and i left my number with them incase they wanted any help using it.
Well since then i have had numberous phone calls. claiming bits werent there when they were. i bought the bits out of my own pocket and sent it them.
today however they have opened a case claiming the item is broken and they want to return it for a full refund.
where do i stand? its obviously more than 45 days since i sold the item.
Any advise would be greatly recieved!!

1 question, private sale or are you a business.
assuming private sale then basically Ebay can do nothing.
Cash sale so they cannot force refund, think outside 45 days means case cannot be escalated.
However unless they have already left feedback they have a few more days to do so (60 days total)
Basically assuming private sale it was a cash sale and the buyer accepted the goods, you really had no need to give them your number or buy the other bits. As long as you did not attempt to deceive the buyer then they had a chance to inspect the goods before paying.0 -
Dont worry. If it is more than 45 days then the buyer wont be able to escalate the case.
Nothing he can do.
Do think twice about giving your telephone number out to folks though0 -
hello, i am a private seller. the lady was older than me but certainly knew what she was talking about and as it was a shared interest i had left my number. she also purchased afew things from me outside of ebay ( i will point out these wernt listed on ebay she asked if i had any and i did).
The reason i went out of my way and sent the extra bits was in order to avoid a situation like this where they tried to say it wasnt as described.0 -

Would it be different if they were a business and accepted a cash sale?0 -

from an Ebay point of view not at all,
from a legal point of view possibly as even a business selling face to face for cash must comply with the sale of goods act, thought enforcing anything would be difficult most of the time.0 -
I thought that you could request the contact details for any buyer/seller that you have a transaction with on eBay, and eBay will provide you with their telephone number and address.QuackQuackOops wrote: »Do think twice about giving your telephone number out to folks thoughPhilip0 -

Absolutely. A request can be made through Ebay. Although not all buyers/sellers are aware of this and not everyone will use their home phone number on Ebay.
Plus, there is more effort involved in requesting a number and waiting for it rather than just being handed it.
Sometimes, however, people do give out their phone number to others very easily and then regret doing so when something has gone wrong.
Always best to have a back up mobile for this kind of thing.0
